Continuing where I left off yesterday on the subject of “future footwork”, I present you with DJ Boy Drama’s Boy Ruins Lives. Unlike DJ Clap’s rapid on/off sampling I showed off yesterday Boy Drama’s music is pure dancefloor work and absorbs elements from more than just juke and footwork. Him (and the rest of the #mallmusic crew) pull off this kind of style with ease and at the same time sequester themselves from each other. Great stuff, highly recommended!

Shinichi Osawa & Paul Chambers - Fuzzbox (2013) (320)

The dynamic duo of Japan’s Shinichi Osawa and Belgium’s Paul Chambers are back with a (not so) new track on GND Records. I say not so new because the last few “new” releases from the two have all been tracks from their album Singapore Swing, which (to my knowledge) never got any digital or physical distribution outside of Japan. Fuzzbox seems to be a little different however. This mix is about 26 seconds longer and sounds a bit different than the original, there’s also an Alex Gopher remix on the B-side.

Recently there’s been an uncalled for burst of new music in the vein of footwork and juke. It doesn’t have a name (and doesn’t really need one) but imagine it as some sort of hyper, juiced-up version of the aforementioned genres. DJ Clap is one good example and he has an upcoming album which will be released on Dadelus’ new label, Magical Properties, on March 26th. Although the fun doesn’t stop here, expect some more of this new phenomena over the next few days!

Week 5! Physical Feature!! French Fries!!! That’s all that really needs to be said for this week’s record but I’ll write a bit just for the hell of it.

As you can see, this is a copy of Space Alarm by the highly revered French Fries. Unlike it’s digital counterpart the presentation is pretty bland but the sound more than makes up for it. This is also one of the few records I’ve actually had to order online, as the record stores around here aren’t really up to date when it comes to dance music (you’ll be able to tell which other releases I had to order online).

I can’t share this release with you (goldffinch is on the blacklist) so go buy it!

Unpronounceable and enigmatically anonymous techno, very closely related to another anonymous project I posted a little while ago. As much as I’d like to avoid making the comparison, you could say it resembles Karenn (or any other similar artist) if you removed any sort of humanity from it. Which actually makes a ton of sense if you really think about it…
